Group IIA: Be – Mg – Ca – Sr – Ba – Ra
1. Solubility of bases from top to down
a) Weak bases:
b) Strong bases:
Compared with bases of Group IA, what is the basic strength of group IIA? are....
a)Weak bases :
Be(OH)2
Mg(OH)2
Ca(OH)2
Sr(OH)2
Ba(OH)2
Ra(OH)2
b)Strong bases :
Ra(OH)2
Ba(OH)2
Sr(OH)2
Ca(OH)2
Mg(OH)2
Be(OH)2
after we compared with bases of group IA,the basic strength of group IIA are group IA.It happened because group IA is more reactive than group IIA.

Hard Water is water that contains lots of calsium ion dan magnesium ion.
a) - Temporary hard water contains bicarbonate ion (HCO3-)
- To remove temporary hard water is heating the water
- Reaction : Ca(HCO3)2(aq) → CaCO3(s) + H2O(l) + CO2(g)
b) - Permanent hard water contains chloride ion (Cl-), sulfate ion (SO42-) and (NO3-)
- To remove permanent hard water is by adding sodium carbonate Na2CO3(aq) or K2CO3 (aq)
- Reaction : CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) →CaCO3(s) + 2NaCl(aq)
- The hazard of hard water, that are :
a) Waste of soap because hard water agglomates the soap becomes scum
b) Scum can leave spot in the clothes. So the clothes become dull
c) Hard water can cause precipitation of minerals, which is clogging the pipes and taps.

no. 4 Group IA (group 1)
1. Fransium (Fr)
2. Alkaline is the most reactive metal. All of alkaline metal will react with water (Li,K,Rb,Cs). except Fransium (Fr), because it's radioactive metal which does not react with water.
name : Miranda Kartika sari and Rininta Amelia
class : XII PSIA 1
7. Flame color of alkaline earth metals:
Flame color of Be is colorless
Flame color of Mg is colorless
Flame color of Ca is brick-red
Flame color of Sr is red
Flame color of Ba is green
Because of their flame colors, both alkaline metals and alkaline earth metals will be used as give color to the fireworks.
Name: Afie Andisa
4. Can react with strong bases (amphoyteric): (Be). Because (Be) is can be react with both acid and base. And it character is amfoter.
Formula of its acid:
Be + 2H(+) -> Be(2+) + H2
Formula of its base:
Be + 2OH(-) -> BeO2(2-) + H2
name : kenny shafira diaz & mirna gusrtiana
7. Flame color of alkaline earth metals:
Flame color of Be is colorless
Flame color of Mg is colorless
Flame color of Ca is brick-red
Flame color of Sr is red
Flame color of Ba is green
Because of their flame colors, both alkaline metals and alkaline earth metals will be used as give color to the fireworks.

Base Strongest
Group IA : Li, K , Rb, Cs, Fr
answer :
LiOh
KOH
RbOH
CsOh
FrOH
because the ionization rates from Li to Fr consequently the smaller the easier it release electrons, redukor, the more reactive and basic character increases

Solubility of Bases from top to down: Be - Mg - Ca - Sr - Ba - Ra
a) weak bases : Be(OH)2, Mg(OH)2
b) Strong bases : Ca(OH)2 , Ba(OH)2, Sr(OH)2
Compared Bases of Group IA and IIA : Bases of Group IA is stroenger than IIA. because Bases of Group IA is more reactive then IIA.

Solubility :
the solubility of alkaline earth ions with carbonates is hard be dissolved.
for example :
Mg ions + carbonates has the constant solubility 1x10^-15

9. The strength of nitrates from top to down is...
Be-Mg-Ca-Sr-Ba
Explanation for this trend is....
Be has amount of electron less than other. Because of that, Be has orbital less than other, so the radius is shorter. Shorter the radius, stronger the bond. Ra is hard to make a bond with nitrate because Ra is a radioactive.

7. Flame color of alkaline earth metals :
Flame color of Be is colorless
Flame color of Mg is colorless
because beryllium and Magnesium have ionization energies that are very high.So The energy of a burner flame is not sufficient to excite their electrons to higher energy levels
Flame color of Ca is brick red
Flame color of Sr is Crimson red
Flame color of Ba is Grassy Red
because of their flames, both alkaline metals and alkaline earth metals will be used as give characteristic color to the flame.
